Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich held a meeting this evening with senior officials from the Presidency of the Business Sector in light of Operation ‘Lion’s Roar’.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Presidency of the Business Sector, Dov Amity, and senior business sector officials. Representing the Ministry of Finance were Ministry of Finance Director-General Ilan Rom, Budget Director Moran Froznifer, Accountant General Michal Abadi-Boyango, Tax Authority Director Shai Aharonovitz, and Property Tax Director Amir Dahan.
The parties noted the economic strength of the State of Israel and the important impact of cooperation between the government and the business sector.
It was agreed at the meeting to establish a joint team of the Ministry of Finance and representatives of the business sector, which will work on formulating a compensation plan tailored to the current operation.
The plan will be based on the compensation model implemented in Operation “With a Lion” in June 2025 and the experience gained by the Ministry of Finance in promoting effective responses for the economy, in the right scope and at the right time. The importance of clarifying the duration and intensity of the war was also emphasized at the meeting in order to promote a recognized but effective plan for the current economic situation.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich: “The State of Israel is strong both on the front and in providing a safety net for the business sector and employees. As we have done in previous campaigns, we will ensure a tailored package that will not leave anyone behind. This is a crucial part of the war effort.”
Chairman of the Presidency of the Business Sector, Dov Amity: “The business sector is the backbone of economic and national resilience during wartime. We are acting responsibly and with consideration to formulate a focused, effective, and implementable compensation plan. I believe the plan will provide a broad and significant response, and if necessary, we will continue to act decisively to improve it and make the required corrections. My thanks to the Finance Minister for an open and attentive dialogue, understanding the reality on the ground, and the willingness to provide a quick and professional response.”
