Jerusalem, 24 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, announced the launch of a new call for applied-strategic studies for 2026: “Human Capital in STEM Fields in the Education System.”

It called on researchers from academia and research institutes to propose “innovative, data-driven, and applied-feasibility studies that will help shape long-term policies and reduce social and geographic disparities.”

Key focus topics:

Mapping and understanding the shortage of teachers in STEM Subjects along the educational continuum.
Entry into teaching and training processes – identifying barriers, conversion paths, and examining persistence rates.
Integration, teaching quality, and burnout prevention – versus the tempting alternatives in the high-tech industry and academia.
Inequality and social mobility – how the shortage of teachers affects the periphery and future integration into knowledge-intensive employment.
Policies, incentives and technological solutions for the recruitment, retention and strengthening of STEM teachers in the whole country.
