IDF Chief of Staff Kochavi meets rabbis, stressing the need for all soldiers and continued integration of women in service according to the Joint Service Order.

The Chief of Staff clarified that the IDF still lacks thousands of combat soldiers and needs every male and female soldier to fulfill missions and consolidate the campaign’s achievements. The Chief of Staff emphasized that one of the cornerstones for integrating a wide range of populations in service is the implementation of the Joint Service Order – which allows service side-by-side and not one at the expense of the other – and maintaining the dignity of all those serving. The Chief of Staff clarified that he intends to continue strengthening the implementation of the order and other routine orders, which naturally require extra diligence during such a long period of fighting. The Chief of Staff added that as part of expanding the integration of women in key and combat roles – which is of immense operational importance and the IDF will continue to work to expand it – the establishment of frameworks and the opening of positions will be implemented in full accordance with the Joint Service Order in routine, emergency, and war. These steps will be carried out according to operational needs and while meeting professional thresholds – without compromise. The rabbis praised the Chief of Staff for leading the IDF to important achievements during complex and difficult times and clarified that they will continue to educate their students for meaningful military service as required. They also shared with the Chief of Staff the challenges faced by religiously observant soldiers during their military service, and raised the need for every religiously observant soldier to be able to serve in the IDF in accordance with their beliefs and values, and in light of the principles of the Joint Service Order. The Chief of Staff concluded his remarks and noted that the State of Israel has one army – the People’s Army – which must know how to contain all existing complexities and enable a contributing and meaningful service for all parts of the people. As the army’s service requires us to meet this challenge successfully.
