Jerusalem, 16 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — At the end of a joint work process, the Budget Division of The Ministry of Finance, the University Heads’ Committee (UHCC) and the Planning and Budgeting Committee (PBC) announce a significant change in the process of commercializing knowledge from universities to the high-tech and technology industry.
For the first time, the universities will formulate uniform principles that will ensure certainty for entrepreneurs, a pilot for commercializing knowledge through external companies will be launched, and at the same time, the Innovation Authority will promote a dedicated track to encourage and expand knowledge commercialization activity from academia to Israeli industry.
The goal of the program is to maximize Israel’s scientific potential for the benefit of economic growth. Israeli universities are responsible for groundbreaking scientific developments that constitute critical infrastructure for the local technology industry.
The current move is intended to accelerate and strengthen the transfer of knowledge from research laboratories to industry, reduce bureaucracy, and maximize economic potential for the benefit of the entire Israeli Economy.
