The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, chaired by MK Yuli Yoel Edelstein (Likud), held on Thursday a classified debate to assess the government ministries’ preparations for the operational continuity of the economy during Operation Rising Lion.
The meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the Federation of Local Authorities in Israel and the National Security Council, among others.
The various bodies updated the committee on the current situation, including the needs and gaps. The committee assessed the preparations for the continuation of the military campaign.
Also on Thursday, the committee toured the missile landing site in Rehovot in order to assess the needs on the ground. The committee members were accompanied by Rehovot Mayor Matan Dil, other city officials, and representatives of the Home Front Command.
Committee Chair MK Edelstein said, “We will continue to monitor the preparations of the home front as they pertain to the needs of the residents and the needs of the local authorities, so that the Air Force pilots, the IDF soldiers and members of the security forces will be able to win securely, knowing that our home front is safe.
“Beyond the security forces, volunteers and Home Front Command personnel, I wish to express my appreciation to the heads of the authorities in Israel, and their teams, who are working day and night and managing the events with professionalism, dedication and sensitivity,” Speaker MK Edelstein said. “The cooperation between local government, the government ministries and the security forces creates an important and welcome synergy in such a time.”
