Jerusalem, 19 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Ministry of Agriculture inspectors thwarted an attempt to smuggle approximately 24,000 tons of beef from the areas of the Palestinian Authority into Israel that was kept in cans. The meat was found during an inspection at the A-Za’im checkpoint in the Jerusalem area
The cans were transported on 25 pallets in a truck that made its way from Mishor Adumim to Beer Sheva.
The truck driver, a resident of Kafr Aqab in Jerusalem, claimed that he “did not know what was loaded on the truck,” and the case was referred for investigation.
The meat was confiscated and sent for destruction.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Safety and Health emphasizes that food brought from the region to Israel that is not in accordance with the requirements of the law is dangerous to public health.
