Israel Welcomes 21,244 Immigrants Over the Past Jewish Calendar Year

Over 21,000 immigrants chose Israel as their new home in the past Jewish year, with a diverse range of countries represented. Israel's welcoming embrace

Jerusalem, 16 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — 21,244 immigrants arrived in Israel since last Rosh Hashanah, during the Jewish year 5785. The Jewish New Year – 5786 – will begin Monday night.

The immigrants came from a wide range of countries and continents: about 80% of them from Russia (9,282), the United States (2,910), France (2,649), the United Kingdom (679) and Ukraine (772). In addition, immigrants came from other countries, including Canada (355), Argentina (242), South Africa (214), Australia (181), Brazil (166), Germany (146) and Mexico (136). This year, there was also an interesting influx from less expected countries – from Asian, Latin American and African countries – including China (11), India (11), Japan (4), Saudi Arabia (2), South Korea (2), Uganda (2) and Mauritius (2).

Geographical distribution in Israel:
Most immigrants chose to settle in the Tel Aviv area (11,038), followed by the Southern District (5,439), followed by the Haifa and Karyot District (4,767), and then the Netanya and Sharon area (3,804). 3,123 immigrants arrived in Jerusalem, 2,223 in the Holon-Bat Yam-Rishon Lezion-Rehovot area, 1,466 in Ashdod and Ashkelon, 850 in Beer Sheva and the surrounding area, 847 in the Upper Galilee, 654 in Hadera, 150 in Eilat, 281 in Petah Tikva, 310 in Ramat Gan, and 263 in Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut.
