Israel to Sign $500 Million Contract for Two Additional Boeing Military Refueling Aircraft
Israel to sign $500 million contract for two additional Boeing military refueling aircraft. Expanding IDF's fleet with advanced capabilities.
Jerusalem, 20 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) Director General, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, instructed the IMOD Mission to the U.S to sign the contract with the U.S. Government to procure the fifth and sixth refueling aircraft for the Israel Air Force (IAF), manufactured by Boeing, once approval of the Israel Defense Procurement Ministerial Committee is obtained.
This is a follow-on contract with the U.S. Government for procuring two advanced refueling aircraft in addition to four previously purchased KC-46 aircraft. This will expand the IDF’s (Israel Defense Forces) new refueling fleet to six aircraft. The new aircraft will be equipped with Israeli systems and adapted to the IAF ‘s operational requirements.
The contract’s scope is estimated at approximately $500 million and is funded through U.S. aid. It represents a significant milestone in the extensive force buildup that the IMOD is conducting for the IDF.
The KC-46 Pegasus is a multirole tanker and transport aircraft based on the Boeing 767 airframe developed by Boeing for the U.S. Air Force and other allied nations. It is designed to refuel other military aircraft, transport cargo and passengers, and provide aeromedical evacuation capabilities.
