Jerusalem, 9 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security announced support worth approximately NIS 13 million ($3.9 million) for Israel’s aquaculture sector, aiming to maintain existing fish farmers and encourage new entrepreneurs. According to the ministry, the industry has shrunk by roughly 40% since 2016 due to losses and increased competition.

NIS 8.3 million ($2.49 million) will assist current farmers, covering up to 50% of investments in equipment and infrastructure for species such as bream, barramundi, sea bass, and trout. An additional NIS 4.25 million ($1.27 million) is earmarked for innovative ventures in the Eilat region and supporting technologies for sea-based products like seaweed, crabs, and oysters.
