Jerusalem, 2 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s High Court of Justice ordered the Knesset to hold a new vote for the next State Comptroller.
At least seven coalition members of Knesset filmed themselves voting for Michael Rabello during the secret ballot in June, which petitioners argued compromised the integrity of the selection process.
The State Comptroller is responsible for auditing government ministries and public agencies, evaluating policy implementation, and reviewing state preparedness.
Outgoing State Comptroller Matanyahu Engelman’s seven-year term ends on July 4.
