Jerusalem, 7 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Education is expanding the “Preparation for Life” program in the upcoming school year, which it calls a “groundbreaking educational initiative” that offers twelfth grade students a “significant space for experimentation, deepening, and reflection in preparation for adult life.”
After a successful pilot that took place in 70 educational institutions, the program will be deployed this year in approximately 200 schools across the country – a 2.8-fold increase in just one year.
The program is led by the Society and Youth Administration, in partnership with all administrations, the Pedagogical Director, the Pedagogical Secretariat, the Educational Service and the education networks. The preparatory programs are tailored to the characteristics of each sector and are operated in a variety of models: a concentrated month, weekly workshops or annual bands – inside and outside the schools.
Students are partners in planning and leading content that deals with personal and community identity, meaningful service, initiative, studies, employment, and life in the State of Israel – including financial education, decision-making, mental and physical health, addiction prevention, preparation for military service, tools for the labor market, introduction to Israeli society, identity journeys, volunteering for the reconstruction of the North and dealing with changing worlds such as artificial intelligence.
The program operates across all sectors and is adapted to the spirit of the community and the characteristics of the students, while maintaining uniform content principles.
